About the Author:
Dr. Kavanaugh is the founding president of the Academy for the Psychoanalytic Arts, a former president of the International Forum for Psychoanalytic Education, and a former president of the Michigan Society for Psychoanalytic Psychology. For nearly fifty years, he has been privileged to work with people on various in-patient units, day treatment programs, and in his private practice. His experiences include serving as the clinical director of an adult in-patient unit of an inner-city state hospital, clinical director of a community mental health (CMC) day treatment program, and a member of the core teaching and supervising faculties at various universities and teaching hospitals in the Detroit metropolitan area.
